District One’s Crucial Choice: A Former Supervisor’s Plea for Rural Preservation

El Dorado County (Feb 15, 2024) -In an exclusive statement to District One voters, former Supervisor Ron Briggs emphasizes the critical choice facing El Dorado County in the upcoming Supervisor election. With a history as a staunch advocate for slow growth since 1981, Briggs highlights the candidates’ administrative capabilities and points to the urgent need for preserving the county’s rural character. Expressing concerns about the potential destruction of the West end, particularly El Dorado Hills, Briggs questions the voters’ motivations for choosing the area—clean air, cattle grazing, farmlands, and old Oak trees, or a landscape dominated by cars, strip malls, and suburban housing.

Briggs identifies Linda Campbell as the only candidate dedicated to keeping the remaining rural lands intact, contrasting her with others whom he believes may contribute to further urbanization. He warns of the impending strain on the already congested road system and urges voters to consider the impact of their choice on the county’s future. In a direct appeal, Briggs advises against candidates Fortune and Ferrero, likening their vision to that of Vacaville and reinforcing his confidence in Linda Campbell’s commitment to preserving the rural essence of District 1 and El Dorado County as a whole.

— Briggs Statement —

To District One voters,
Looking at the candidates for County Supervisor its clear to me all of the candidates can navigate the administrative portion of a supervisor’s job.
I’ve been an ardent slow growth advocate in El Dorado County since 1981. We have had many successes and now face the destruction of the West end of our county, El Dorado Hills proper.

Why did you move here? Did you move here for clean air, cattle grazing on lands, farmlands, open fields with hundreds year old Oak trees? Or do you want more cars, strip malls, Costco’s, suburban track housing everywhere?

There is only one candidate who will work to keep the remaining rural lands, rural. The others, in my opinion, will perpetuate and coddle the rape of our lands and dump thousands of more cars onto an already congested system of roads.
If you like Vacaville (and it’s at our doorstep, thank you Folsom) then vote for Fortune or Ferrero.

Linda Campbell has been in the trenches for decades fighting to keep us rural. I have confidence as District 1 Supervisor she will continue the fight for District 1 and our county.
