PLACERVILLE, Calif. — The El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE) has announced the appointment of Amy Andersen as its new associate superintendent of educational services. Andersen brings over 25 years of experience in education, encompassing roles from classroom teacher to executive leadership.​

Her passion for serving students and forward-thinking leadership will further strengthen EDCOE and enrich the county’s educational community.”​

In her previous role as executive director of human resources at EDCOE, Andersen was instrumental in implementing data-driven practices and innovative initiatives across instructional leadership, special education and human resources. From 2014 to 2020, she served as executive director of special services, where she developed multiple instructional programs that enhanced educational outcomes for students.​

Andersen said.

“Serving and supporting educators, students and families through EDCOE’s diverse programs has been a privilege. Throughout my career, my focus has always been on the students and communities I serve. As I return to my roots as an educator, I look forward to building on that foundation and advancing educational excellence.”​

Andersen holds a Master of Arts in Special Education from Azusa Pacific University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and French from Coe College. Her statewide influence includes serving on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Design Team, contributing to California’s Teaching Performance Assessment (CalTPA), and holding leadership positions within the California County Superintendents’ Personnel Administrative Services Committee (PASCo).​

The associate superintendent position at EDCOE is a cabinet-level role that provides professional leadership and general supervision to the educational services staff, as well as curriculum, instruction and accountability leadership to the school districts of El Dorado County. The position was posted on February 3, 2025, with a salary range of $198,171 to $234,040 annually, based on education and experience .​
