Free Pet Vaccine Clinic Set for Oct. 25 in El Dorado County
SHINGLE SPRINGS, Calif. — El Dorado County residents with dogs and cats will have another opportunity to protect their pets at no cost when the El Dorado Humane Society hosts its annual community vaccine and microchip clinic Sunday, Oct. 25.
The free clinic is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Foothill Dog Rescue of the Sierras, 4131 South Shingle Road, Suite 14, in Shingle Springs.
The event is open only to El Dorado County residents. Organizers say no preregistration is required.
“We hope to see you and your pets on October 25th!” organizers said in the event announcement.
Vaccines and microchips available
For dogs, the clinic will offer DAPP and rabies vaccinations, as well as microchipping and registration.
Cats can receive HCP and rabies vaccinations, along with microchipping and registration.
Pet owners who have attended previous clinics or have existing vaccination records are encouraged to bring those records with them.
The organizers also have specific safety requirements for animals attending the clinic:
- Dogs must be secured on a leash.
- Cats must be secured in a carrier.
- No preregistration is required.
- Breeders will not be served.
- The clinic is limited to El Dorado County residents.
A recurring local effort
The clinic continues a community partnership that has provided free preventive veterinary services to local pet owners.
El Dorado County reported that a similar vaccination clinic held in October 2023 in partnership with the El Dorado Humane Society provided vaccines and microchips to 150 animals at no cost to county residents.
The county also reported that a 2024 vaccination clinic conducted with the El Dorado Humane Society, Foothill Dog Rescue of the Sierras and Animal Outreach of the Mother Lode served 190 animals with free vaccines and microchips.
Those numbers illustrate the demand for low- or no-cost preventive services among El Dorado County pet owners.
Microchipping also provides an important identification tool if an animal becomes lost. Local animal-care guidance recommends having lost pets scanned for a microchip because registration information can help connect a recovered animal with its owner.
The El Dorado Humane Society, based in Diamond Springs, operates animal welfare and community programs serving El Dorado County. Its public contact information lists the organization at 777 Pleasant Valley Road and its telephone number as (530) 642-2738.
For questions specifically about the Oct. 25 clinic, organizers ask residents to contact Foothill Dog Rescue of the Sierras at (530) 676-3647.
For local pet owners, the message is straightforward: mark the calendar, bring the paperwork if you have it, keep dogs leashed, keep cats in carriers and arrive prepared.
The free community clinic will be held Sunday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Shingle Springs.
