EDITOR, Cris Alarcon
I evaluate candidates for elected office on several fundamental principles: integrity, ethics, and their philosophy regarding the balance of government power and individual rights.
With those principles in mind, I have put together a comparison of the two candidates seeking to represent District 4 on the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors.
Ted Gaines is an experienced public officeholder with a documented record and a clearly articulated conservative philosophy emphasizing individual rights and limited government. Gina Posey, by contrast, is a newcomer to elected office whose positions on several important issues remain unclear.
I have personally reached out to Posey on two occasions seeking clarification on some of these unanswered questions. She has declined to respond to my inquiries, leaving those questions unresolved.
I believe an informed voter is a better-equipped voter. My purpose in creating this quick-reference chart is to put the available information side by side, identify areas where positions are clear or remain unanswered, and give District 4 voters a resource to help them make their own informed decisions.
