CHP reported that the pedestrian died at the scene. Emergency responders were dispatched following reports of the collision, but the victim did not survive.

Driver remained at the scene

The driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and cooperated with responding officers, according to the published report.

There was no immediate indication in the available reporting that the driver fled or that a criminal investigation involving a hit-and-run was underway.

Investigation continues

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

As of the latest available reporting, authorities had not publicly released the pedestrian’s identity, age or hometown. Additional information about the vehicle, the direction of travel, the circumstances leading to the collision and whether impairment or other contributing factors were involved had not been reported.

Pleasant Valley Road is an important local route connecting communities and residential areas around Diamond Springs. The collision serves as another reminder of the risks pedestrians face when sharing roadways with motor vehicles, particularly during evening hours when visibility can become more challenging.

INEDC will update this report as additional information becomes available from the California Highway Patrol or the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division.
