Local Businesses Rally Around Marietti Family<\/h3>\n

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif.<\/strong> \u2014 A morning cup of coffee is taking on a deeper meaning across El Dorado County this week as local coffee shops, bakeries and cafes join a fundraiser benefiting the family of Correctional Officer Ryan Marietti.<\/p>\n

Organized by the Sheriff\u2019s Posse of El Dorado County<\/strong>, the fundraiser runs through Saturday afternoon, Sept. 26, with participating businesses throughout the county and into South Lake Tahoe inviting customers to take part.<\/p>\n

The Sheriff\u2019s Posse is a volunteer organization established to support members of the El Dorado County Sheriff\u2019s Office and their families during times of need. County records have previously described the Posse as a charitable organization whose purpose includes raising funds to assist sheriff\u2019s officers and their families.<\/p>\n

For residents who knew Marietti, the fundraiser is about more than financial assistance. It is an opportunity to support a local family following the sudden loss of a young man who grew up in the community.<\/p>\n

A Young Life Dedicated to Service<\/h3>\n

Marietti died in the early morning hours of Aug. 28 in a solo-vehicle crash on Highway 50 near Strawberry. He was off duty at the time.<\/p>\n

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Authorities have said the collision occurred shortly after 4 a.m., and investigators had not determined whether speed or DUI was a factor.<\/p>\n

Marietti was a 2023 graduate of Ponderosa High School in Shingle Springs. Before becoming a correctional officer, he was a member of El Dorado County Sheriff\u2019s Office Explorer Post 457, where he participated on the post\u2019s competition team.<\/p>\n

He joined the Sheriff\u2019s Office in December 2024 and worked at both the Placerville and South Lake Tahoe jails.<\/p>\n

The Sheriff\u2019s Office said Marietti demonstrated a strong work ethic, professionalism and a desire to build a career in public service.<\/p>\n

\u201cRyan will be greatly missed\u2014not only by his family and friends, but by his EDSO family and the community he proudly chose to serve,\u201d the Sheriff\u2019s Office said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The agency concluded its memorial statement with a simple tribute:<\/p>\n

\u201cRyan Marietti, J2258, always speak his name.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Businesses Across the County Participate<\/h3>\n

The fundraiser stretches across several communities, giving residents numerous opportunities to participate while supporting locally owned businesses.<\/p>\n
