Rather than leaving the animals exposed to passing vehicles, the responding officer and highway workers worked together to get them to safety.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1548\" data-end=\"1594\"><strong data-start=\"1548\" data-end=\"1594\">They\u2019re safe, sound and now in good hands.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1596\" data-end=\"1664\">That was the good-news update accompanying the report of the rescue.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1666\" data-end=\"2013\">The Ridgeway Drive area is near the eastern portion of Pollock Pines, where US-50 remains a critical transportation route for residents, commuters and travelers heading toward the Sierra. Caltrans has ongoing responsibility for maintaining the highway, including roadway safety and infrastructure in the area.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"2015\" data-end=\"2213\">For motorists, loose animals near a high-speed roadway can create a danger for everyone involved.
