El Dorado County DA files charges against school trustee in South Lake Tahoe case<\/h3>\n

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. \u2014<\/strong> El Dorado County prosecutors have filed criminal charges against Erinn Colleen Miller, a Douglas County School District trustee accused of financial crimes involving clients of her bookkeeping business in South Lake Tahoe.<\/p>\n

The charges mark a new development in an investigation that crosses the California-Nevada state line. According to South Tahoe Now<\/em>, the El Dorado County District Attorney\u2019s Office issued a filing warrant that led to Miller\u2019s arrest shortly after noon Thursday, Oct. 22.<\/p>\n

Miller faces two counts of embezzlement, one count of money laundering and one count of forgery. The alleged financial losses associated with the California charges total $506,262.61, according to the news outlet, which cited information from South Lake Tahoe police.<\/p>\n

According to court documents described in South Tahoe Now<\/em>\u2019s reporting, the medical group hired Miller\u2019s business in January 2022. Investigators alleged that eight checks totaling $332,000 were created or forged without authorization between April 1 and Nov. 1, 2025.<\/p>\n

The investigation subsequently identified additional alleged losses, bringing the amount associated with the California case to $506,262.61.<\/p>\n

The El Dorado County District Attorney\u2019s Office is prosecuting the California case. The reported charges are separate from the criminal proceedings Miller faces in Nevada.<\/p>\n
