Federal guilty plea closes another chapter in South Lake Tahoe scandal<\/h3>\n

SACRAMENTO, Calif. \u2014 Former South Lake Tahoe Mayor Tamara Le Ann Wallace pleaded guilty Thursday to federal wire fraud, admitting responsibility for a scheme that diverted approximately $390,000 from Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church over more than six years.<\/p>\n

The guilty plea, entered Oct. 29 in U.S. District Court in Sacramento, brings the case closer to sentencing following a public confession that shocked the South Lake Tahoe community in October 2025.<\/p>\n

Wallace, 56, pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud stemming from her employment as a part-time bookkeeper at the church. U.S. Attorney Eric Grant announced the plea in a statement released by the Eastern District of California.<\/p>\n

According to federal prosecutors, Wallace began working for the church in 2018 and was responsible for managing finances, paying bills, monitoring the budget and maintaining digital financial records.<\/p>\n

She had access to the church’s bank account and, for most of her employment, was the only person with access to its digital accounting system.<\/p>\n
