EDUHSD Ski and Snowboard Teams Open Season Strong at Sierra-at-Tahoe

More than 200 athletes compete

El Dorado Union High School District alpine ski and snowboard teams opened their season with a strong showing, competing against more than 200 athletes from across the region at the first race of the year at Sierra-at-Tahoe. Students from El Dorado High School, Oak Ridge High School and Ponderosa High School recorded multiple podium finishes in both ski and snowboard events, signaling a competitive season ahead.

In Women’s Varsity Ski, Oak Ridge High School’s Emma Campbell placed second out of a field of 51 competitors, while El Dorado High School’s Mareika Delmolino followed closely with a fourth-place finish. The Men’s Varsity Ski event was dominated by district athletes, with El Dorado High School’s Skyler Schlavin taking first place overall. He was joined on the podium by Ponderosa High School’s Jakeb Dahlgren in second and Oak Ridge High School’s Beau Templet in third, creating an all-EDUHSD sweep.

Snowboard events also delivered standout results for El Dorado County schools. In Women’s Varsity Snowboard, Ponderosa High School led the field as Audrey Kersey finished first and Shayla Dalton took second, while Oak Ridge High School’s Molly Railey earned a third-place podium spot. The Men’s Varsity Snowboard competition saw El Dorado High School sweep the podium, with Matix Spitzer, Casey Hayman and Mason Beverly finishing first through third.

District officials praised the athletes’ early success and teamwork. “These results reflect the dedication our students and coaches put in before the season even begins,” the El Dorado Union High School District said in a statement. “It’s exciting to see our schools represented so strongly at the regional level.”The teams are scheduled to return to Sierra-at-Tahoe for their next competition on Jan. 21, where they will continue their pursuit of league and regional honors.
