EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. — A former Oakridge High School band teacher with more than three decades of service was arrested Monday morning on multiple felony charges involving alleged sexual abuse of minors, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives arrested Paul William Varoff, 65, on Jan. 26 following an investigation into allegations of unlawful sexual conduct involving individuals under the age of 18. Varoff has been charged with five felony counts of oral copulation with a minor and five felony counts of sexual penetration of a minor, authorities said.
Varoff was taken into custody at approximately 7:16 a.m. at a residence on Anthony Drive and booked into the El Dorado County Jail. Bail has been set at no bail, meaning he will remain in custody pending further court proceedings.
The El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office has filed the case, and Varoff is scheduled to be arraigned at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, in El Dorado County Superior Court.
“This is an ongoing investigation, and we are asking anyone with information or who may have been affected to come forward,”
the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. Officials specifically requested that potential victims or individuals with relevant information contact Detective Katz.
Authorities have not released details regarding the number of victims or the timeframe of the alleged incidents, citing the sensitivity of the investigation and the need to protect potential victims. Law enforcement officials emphasized that additional charges could be filed as the case develops.
