El Dorado County (June 29, 2024) – Doyle Whisenhunt, born on June 6, 1940, to Albert W. Whisenhunt and Bertha L. Parks, passed away on May 17, 2024, after a lengthy illness. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Doyle’s life was marked by dedicated service. In 1959, he joined the Army and, following an honorable discharge, began working for the Yuba City Fire Department. His career took a significant turn in 1967 when he joined the California Highway Patrol. Initially assigned to the Los Banos area, he later transferred to North Sacramento and finally to Placerville, where he retired after 28 and a half years of service. Not one to remain idle, Doyle continued his commitment to public service by joining the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department, where he served as a Deputy Sheriff in the Courts for another 13 years.

Doyle was deeply involved in his community. He was a Master Mason, Shriner, Elk, and a member of the American Legion.

Doyle is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sheryl; his daughters Sonia (Joe) Esteves of Dos Palos, Leah (David) Forte of Arkansas, and Denyse (Daniel) Shirley of Gustine; and his stepchildren, Michael Blagg and Sheri Blagg. He also leaves behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his brother Ron (Patti) Whisenhunt of Sutter, CA, and his sister Susie Applegarth of Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Burial is pending and will take place in the Veterans Section of Sutter Cemetery, Sutter, CA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CAHP Widows and Orphans Fund, Sacramento, CA.
