El Dorado County (Aug 27, 2024, 2024) –
Placerville Speedway is set to deliver a thrilling double header this Labor Day weekend, hosting one of its biggest events of the season. The $8,000-to-win Nor*Cal Posse Shootout/Legends Weekend, presented by Berco Redwood, will bring together top sprint car talent and racing nostalgia for two nights of high-octane action.
The weekend kicks off on Saturday, August 31st, with the Winged 360 Sprint Cars vying for a $5,000-to-win prize, followed by Sunday’s grand finale on September 1st, offering a hefty $8,000-to-win. Sharing the spotlight are the Spec Sprints from the High Sierra West Coast Wingless Shootout, competing for $2,000-to-win on opening night and ramping up to $5,000-to-win on Sunday.
Now in its seventh year, the Nor*Cal Posse Shootout continues to grow in prestige, attracting past winners like Cory Eliason, Sean Becker, Rico Abreu, Shane Golobic, Tanner Carrick, and last year’s Saturday victor, Michael Faccinto. Placerville Speedway Promoter Scott Russell expressed excitement for the event, aiming to solidify its status as a marquee racing showdown in Northern California. “We’ve had some great racing all year and should be in for a can’t miss weekend at the shootout,” Russell said.
Adding to the excitement is the event’s special tribute to the rich history of Placerville Speedway with the Legends Weekend, dubbed “The Epic Double.” Vintage cars and legendary drivers from the past will be on hand, showcasing restored machines that will take laps on the storied red clay. “It’s always a special night and now it’s going to be a memorable weekend,” noted Russell, highlighting the efforts of Rick Hirst in bringing the historic cars and figures back to the track.
Fans can catch all the action live at the speedway, with reserved seating available both nights. The pit gate opens at noon, and the front gates welcome fans at 3 PM. Happy Hour, featuring live music and discounted Coors Light and Coors Original, runs from the gate opening until 6 PM. For those unable to attend in person, CaliDirt.TV will offer live streaming of the races, ensuring no one misses a moment of the excitement.
