EL DORADO HILLS (Sept 24, 2024) – Students and staff at Oak Ridge High School were ordered to shelter in place Monday morning after reports of two mountain lions spotted nearby. According to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, the big cats were seen in the backyard of a residence adjacent to the school.
Deputies swiftly responded, patrolling the campus to ensure safety while school officials kept everyone indoors. The shelter-in-place order was lifted around 11 a.m. after authorities determined the area was safe.
No further sightings were reported, but officials advised caution in the area.
