  • South Lake Tahoe: South Tahoe Public Utility District Office, 1275 Meadow Crest Dr.
  • El Dorado Hills: 2201 Francisco Dr., near Lake Forest Elementary.

Most sites operate on a self-service basis and are open to residents during daylight hours. Supplies may be limited, so it is recommended to check availability before heading to the location.

Key Tips for Using Sandbags

  • Fill Sandbags Correctly: Fill only halfway to two-thirds full to prevent overburdening the material and ensure easier stacking.
  • Stack Properly: Lay bags in a staggered, brick-like pattern to create a stable barrier against water.
  • Monitor Water Levels: Stay vigilant during storms, as rising water may compromise barriers.

Proper use of sandbags can prevent water intrusion into homes, but they are not designed to redirect water onto neighboring properties or block storm drains. Additionally, always follow evacuation orders and warnings issued by local authorities.
