El Dorado County, CA. — The El Dorado County Department of Transportation (DOT) has announced a series of monthly road closures on Mosquito Road to facilitate essential crane maintenance for the ongoing bridge replacement project. The first closure is scheduled for Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The closures will affect Mosquito Road at the gates, spanning from 0.6 miles north to 0.8 miles south of the old Mosquito Road Bridge. During these times, the road will be impassable as crews perform inspections and maintenance on the crane boom extension and luffer jib at Pier 3, located north of the river.

To accommodate motorists, a detour has been established via Rock Creek Road. Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and allocate extra travel time during the closure periods.

“These monthly closures are vital to ensure the safety and efficiency of the bridge replacement project,” said a DOT spokesperson. “We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as we work to enhance our county’s infrastructure.”

The scheduled closures will occur on the first or second Saturday of each month throughout the project’s duration. Advance notices will be posted two weeks prior to each closure to inform the public.

In emergency situations, coordination with local emergency services will allow for passage through the work site.

For further information or questions regarding the closures, residents can contact the County’s Transportation main line at (530) 621-5900, selecting Option 3 for Engineering.

The DOT extends its gratitude to motorists for their understanding and apologizes for any inconvenience caused by these necessary closures.
