EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. (March 21, 2025) — A routine traffic stop in Folsom during the early hours of March 6 led to the discovery of stolen firearms and other items connected to a recent burglary in El Dorado Hills, according to the Folsom Police Department.
Officers conducted the stop around 1 a.m. near White Rock Road and Oak Avenue Parkway after observing a vehicle without license plates. The driver, identified as Robert Carlson, 43, of Rancho Cordova, was found to be on searchable probation.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed four stolen firearms, ammunition, tools, and camping equipment. Investigators later confirmed these items were linked to a recent burglary at a storage facility in El Dorado Hills.
Carlson was arrested at the scene and booked into Sacramento County Jail on multiple firearm and theft-related charges.
The Folsom Police Department highlighted the significance of this arrest, stating that what began as a simple traffic stop quickly escalated into a major case involving stolen firearms.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not ruled out the possibility of additional arrests or charges related to the burglary.
