The Senior of the Year Award is a collaborative effort between the El Dorado County Area Agency on Aging and the El Dorado County Commission on Aging, aiming to recognize and celebrate the valuable contributions of senior volunteers in the community.
In 2024, the award was presented to Placerville resident David Zelinsky for his extensive volunteer work assisting local veterans and contributing to fire safety initiatives. Zelinsky, who has been a county resident for 48 years, dedicates over 30 hours per week to volunteer activities, including serving as Chair of the Placerville Fire Safe Council and aiding over 1,200 veterans in the past 11 years.
“David has a true heart for serving others, including his exceptional volunteer efforts helping our local military veterans and his work to keep communities fire safe,” said Timalynn Jaynes, Assistant Director of Human Services in the El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency.
Residents are encouraged to nominate deserving seniors who have made significant volunteer contributions to the community.
