PLACERVILLE, Calif. — A 42-year-old Placerville man was killed in a solo motorcycle crash on Cold Springs Road, according to local authorities.

The Placerville Police Department says, just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday, officers responded near Cold Springs and Middletown roads to investigate reports of a crash.

The Placerville Police Department reported that officers responded to the scene near the intersection of Cold Springs and Middletown roads. Upon arrival, first responders discovered that a motorcycle had crashed. Despite immediate medical aid from officers and El Dorado County Fire personnel, the rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Shawn Martin, a resident of Placerville. The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.

Emergency crews temporarily closed the surrounding area to conduct cleanup and preliminary duties. Further details will be provided as the investigation continues.
