El Dorado Hills, Calif. (InEDC) — On April 30, 2025, Oak Ridge High School held its annual Military Send-Off, celebrating six seniors who have committed to serving in the United States Armed Forces after graduation. The ceremony, held in the school’s large gymnasium, was a heartfelt tribute to the students’ courage, dedication, and sense of duty.

English teacher and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Hugh Corkery delivered opening and closing remarks, emphasizing the significance of the students’ decisions to serve. The Beale Air Force Base Honor Guard presented the colors, and the school’s Vocal Jazz Ensemble performed the National Anthem, setting a solemn and respectful tone for the event.

U.S. Army representatives spoke about the students’ character and achievements, affirming their readiness for military service. Captain Saif S. Hasson administered the Oath of Enlistment to the following students:

  • Amanda Haase – U.S. Naval Academy

  • Jackson Craine – U.S. Air Force

  • Robert Silos – U.S. Air Force Academy

  • Sanii Turner – U.S. Air Force Reserves

  • Cole Esten – U.S. Air Force ROTC

Each student’s path is unique, but all share a commitment to service above self.

Amanda Haase received special recognition for earning an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy. “From my very first interaction with Amanda, I could see her strength of character, academic excellence, and desire to lead,” said Teri Villanueva, U.S. Naval Academy Blue and Gold Officer. “Her appointment reflects an extraordinary level of achievement, and Oak Ridge should be incredibly proud.”

As these students take their next steps, Oak Ridge High School and the El Dorado County Office of Education send them off with gratitude and pride, knowing they are prepared to serve with integrity and distinction.
