In a concerted effort to promote historical education, chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) across Northern California are donating books about the American Revolution to local schools. This initiative is part of the organization’s broader mission to commemorate the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States.

The El Dorado Chapter, based in Placerville, is among the active participants in this educational outreach. This regional effort aligns with similar activities by other DAR chapters. For instance, the John C. Fremont Chapter recently donated books to Gardnerville Elementary School in Nevada as part of the “Stars and Stripes! – American 250 Celebration” literacy program. Chapter Regent Pam Ludwig emphasized the importance of such initiatives, stating,

“With the aid of these grants, the Daughters of the American Revolution hope to enlighten the community on the founding of our Nation and the Patriots that achieved American Independence, as well as encouraging the study of family history”

Founded in 1890, the DAR is a non-profit, lineage-based organization dedicated to historic preservation, education, and patriotism. With nearly 180,000 members across approximately 3,000 chapters worldwide, the organization continues to play a significant role in community service and historical education .
