EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. — The El Dorado Hills Bowmen archery club has issued a warning to its members and visitors following multiple rattlesnake sightings at its outdoor range.

In a recent announcement, the club stated,

“RATTLESNAKES ARE ACTIVE! SEVERAL SIGHTED THIS WEEK! THEY SEEM TO LOVE TARGET HOUSES. BE CAREFUL WHEN RETRIEVING ARROWS!”

Target houses, which are structures used to hold or protect archery targets, provide shaded and secluded environments that can attract rattlesnakes seeking shelter from the sun.

The El Dorado Hills Bowmen range, located in the Northern California foothills, offers a natural habitat conducive to rattlesnakes, especially during warmer months when snake activity increases.

The club has provided a Rattlesnake Safety guide advising archers to remain vigilant, avoid placing hands or feet in areas they cannot see, and to wear appropriate footwear.

Local wildlife experts emphasize the importance of awareness and caution.

“Rattlesnakes are an integral part of our ecosystem, but it’s crucial for individuals to be mindful of their presence, especially in areas like archery ranges where they may seek shelter,”

said a representative from Ramirez Rattlesnake Removal, a local service specializing in snake relocation.

Archers and visitors are encouraged to report any snake sightings to the club management and to familiarize themselves with safety protocols to ensure a safe experience at the range.
