EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. (Jan. 20, 2026) — Sellands Neighborhood Cafe & Bar at 4370 Town Center Blvd. in El Dorado Hills Town Center has closed its doors as part of a broader renovation and rebranding effort by its owners, the Selland Family Restaurants group, officials confirmed this week.

The closure follows a decision by the Sacramento-area restaurant group to update and relaunch its Selland’s Market-Cafe concept as Sellands Cafe & Bar, including interior upgrades, expanded service and new menu offerings. The El Dorado Hills location’s exterior branding has already been removed, signaling the start of a transition for the long-standing Town Center eatery.

Selland Family Restaurants, known locally for its array of concepts including The Kitchen, Ella Dining Room & Bar and OBO Italian Table & Bar, first announced its intent to remodel and rebrand all Selland’s Market-Cafe locations last year. The initiative began at the flagship East Sacramento location and includes remodeling plans for the El Dorado Hills location, though a firm reopening timeline has yet to be announced.

“This refresh will bring new life to our cafes with updated décor, full-service bar elements and seasonal menu expansions,” said Tamera Baker, co-CEO and chief brand officer of Selland Family Restaurants, in a previous statement about the overall project. “All of the locations will have new decor and branding, with enhanced experiences for our guests.”

Local patrons have long valued the El Dorado Hills restaurant as a neighborhood gathering spot offering handcrafted entrées, sandwiches, salads, wood-fired pizzas, and baked goods. The closure has drawn responses from community members expressing a mix of nostalgia and anticipation for what the refreshed concept may bring.

A representative for Selland Family Restaurants told this newsroom that staff impacted by the temporary closure have been reassigned where possible and that no permanent layoffs are expected. “We want to ensure our team transitions smoothly throughout the renovation,” the statement read, highlighting the company’s effort to support employees during the update.

The Town Center restaurant joins a regional wave of dining-industry evolution as eateries adapt to shifting customer preferences and market conditions. Local economic development officials note that refreshed dining options can revitalize foot traffic in retail centers like Town Center, which remains a focal point for community gathering and commerce.

Additional details about the new restaurant concept, menu changes, and a projected reopening date will be announced by the owners in the coming weeks.

🍝 What Is OBO’ Italian Table & Bar?

OBO’ Italian Table & Bar is a full-service Italian restaurant and bar concept operated by the Selland Hospitality Group, the family-owned company behind acclaimed Sacramento-area restaurants such as The Kitchen and Ella Dining Room & Bar.

The name “OBO’” comes from a playful family reference — it’s inspired by the nickname of a young member of the Selland family, Owen Nelson (“Obo”), symbolizing the restaurant’s warm, familial approach to dining.
