In a culmination of an exhaustive investigation spanning three months, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office (EDSO) Detectives descended on an Olivehurst residence on January 4, 2024. The target: Amanda Medrano, a 43-year-old suspect linked to a spree of mail thefts from the Strawberry Post Office.
Caught on camera during two separate incidents, Medrano’s illicit mailbox break-ins were brought to a halt with her arrest. The charges against her spanned the spectrum from the initial mail theft accusations to fresh allegations of identity theft and probation violation.
During the probation search, EDSO Detectives unearthed a trove of evidence, including hundreds of pilfered mail pieces, identification documents, and personal information linked to at least twenty individuals from various El Dorado County communities.
The next phase of the operation involves Detectives diligently working to identify and reach out to potential victims of mail theft and identity fraud.
