SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — January 8, 2024
Camp Richardson Resort, an iconic Lake Tahoe destination steeped in over a century of history, is poised for a transformative makeover. Commencing operations on January 6, 2024, ExplorUS, a distinguished hospitality management company specializing in America’s most picturesque parks, is set to infuse $12 million into the resort for a comprehensive rejuvenation.
Under the operational umbrella of ExplorUS, Camp Richardson Hospitality, LLC will oversee the seamless functioning of various facets of the resort, including the hotel, cabins, beachside inn, Richardson House, campgrounds and RV park, general store, ice cream parlor, mountain sports center, and restaurant. With over 60 locations nationwide, ExplorUS CEO Frank Pikus expressed enthusiasm about continuing the legacy of Camp Richardson, emphasizing the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship and delivering a hospitality experience befitting the resort’s stunning lakefront locale.
Notably, a significant number of familiar faces will return among the staff, ensuring a sense of continuity and familiarity for returning guests from previous seasons.
The competitive bid process by the USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit resulted in the selection of Advenco LLC, a subsidiary of ExplorUS, as the resort’s new 20-year permit concessionaire. Immediate plans include updating all historic hotel furnishings in time for the upcoming summer season, remodeling the general store, and initiating cabin upgrades slated for 2024. The restaurant, offering breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe and a casual family dining experience, is set to reopen in early 2024, with a comprehensive building renovation scheduled for the coming years.
