PLACERVILLE, Calif. — November 1, 2025 — Halloween decorations barely came down before the California Highway Patrol in Placerville turned its attention to spreading Christmas cheer. On Friday, the CHP Placerville office kicked off its annual CHiPs for Kids toy drive, partnering once again with Toys for Tots to help families across El Dorado County.
Families in need of assistance can stop by the Placerville CHP Office at 3031 Lo Hi Way before 3 p.m. today to register for holiday toys. Additional registration times and locations are available online through the Toys for Tots Placerville portal at placerville-ca.toysfortots.org.
“Every year, the community steps up in a big way,” said CHP Placerville Officer Andrew Brown. “We see firsthand the smiles these gifts bring to local kids — and that’s what the holidays are all about.”
The partnership aims to make sure no child in El Dorado County goes without a gift this Christmas. Community members can drop off new, unwrapped toys at the Placerville CHP office or look for Toys for Tots collection bins throughout the county at local businesses and civic buildings.
As part of its long-standing tradition, the CHP’s CHiPs for Kids program will continue collecting donations through mid-December. The toys will be distributed by Toys for Tots volunteers to registered families before Christmas Day.
Residents are encouraged to act quickly, as registration slots often fill up early.
