CAMINO, Calif. — In a heartening display of solidarity and compassion, hundreds of residents from El Dorado County converged at the Jack Russell Farm Brewery on Sunday to extend their support to the family of two brothers who fell victim to a mountain lion attack last month.

The tragic incident, which occurred near Georgetown, claimed the life of 21-year-old Taylen Brooks, while his 18-year-old brother, Wyatt Brooks, sustained severe injuries. The community’s response was nothing short of remarkable as they gathered to stand by the grieving family during this challenging time.

Kylie O’Kennedy, a representative of Jack Russell Farm Brewery, expressed profound gratitude for the overwhelming support, remarking, “Oh, it is so touching. Everyone has been so wonderful. It really is heartwarming to see everyone want to come out and support these families and just show love.”

According to authorities, the Brooks brothers were engaged in antler shed hunting on March 23 in a remote, wooded area of the county when they were ambushed by the mountain lion.

Reflecting on the tragedy, O’Kennedy added,

“It’s a horrible thing that happened.”

Jenean Lubinski, a long-time acquaintance of the Brooks family, spoke on their behalf during the event, acknowledging the profound impact of the community’s solidarity. “It’s a lot,” she expressed. “It’s a lot for the family. This is overwhelming to know so many people care.”

The fundraiser at Jack Russell Farm Brewery offered attendees an afternoon filled with music, food, drinks, and a sense of unity. Both acquaintances and strangers alike contributed by purchasing $15 tickets, while additional funds were raised through raffle tickets and donations.

“We truly couldn’t ask for much more support than this,”

Lubinski remarked gratefully.

In continuation of their efforts, a spaghetti feed fundraiser is scheduled to take place at the Elks Lodge in Shingle Springs on Saturday, April 27th, aimed at further assisting the family of Taylen and Wyatt Brooks. Tickets for the event are priced at $15, with organizers emphasizing that all are welcome to participate in this collective endeavor of support and solidarity.
