Farmers’ Market Coupon Booklets Available for Seniors in El Dorado County

El Dorado County, CA – The El Dorado County Area Agency on Aging has announced the availability of Farmers’ Market coupon booklets for older adults who meet specific age and income criteria. These booklets, valued at $50 each, can be redeemed at Certified Farmers’ Markets across California for fresh fruits, vegetables, cut herbs, and raw unprocessed honey.

“These coupon booklets offer low-income seniors access to locally sourced, highly nutritious fresh produce and honey in a wonderful community-based farmers’ market environment,” said Jordan Brushia, Program Coordinator with El Dorado County Senior Services.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Age: 60 years or older
  • Residency: Must live in El Dorado County
  • Income:
    • One-person household: Annual income less than $27,861 or $2,322 monthly
    • Two-person household: Annual income less than $37,184 or $3,152 monthly

Distribution Details:

  • Wednesday, August 7, 2024: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Burke’s Junction parking area, Coach Lane and Strolling Hills Road, Cameron Park
  • Saturday, August 10, 2024: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Garden Valley Park, Garden Valley Road and Marshall Road, Garden Valley
  • Tuesday, August 13, 2024: 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at America Legion Hall parking area, 2732 Lake Tahoe Boulevard (Highway 50), South Lake Tahoe
  • Saturday, August 17, 2024: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Regal Cinema parking area, 337 Placerville Drive, Placerville

The coupon booklets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and each eligible senior can receive one booklet.

The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Services Agency and the California Department of Food and Agriculture, is implemented locally by the Area Agencies on Aging (AAA).
