PLACERVILLE, Calif. — June 11, 2025 —
El Dorado Transit is offering free shuttle service to the El Dorado County Fair this weekend, giving residents and visitors a stress-free way to enjoy one of the region’s most anticipated summer events.

Running Thursday through Sunday, June 13–16, the complimentary shuttle will make regular stops throughout Placerville, including Park-and-Ride lots, downtown areas, and designated pick-up locations near Highway 50. The goal is to ease congestion, reduce parking strain, and promote safe, convenient access to the fairgrounds.

“We want everyone to enjoy the fair without worrying about traffic or finding parking,”

said Patricia Dobbs, Operations Manager for El Dorado Transit.

“By offering this free shuttle service, we’re helping folks travel safely while reducing the environmental impact of thousands of cars.”

The shuttle runs approximately every 30 minutes during fair hours, with the last return trip leaving the fairgrounds at 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. Riders can track shuttle locations and arrival times using the Transit App, which is available for free on most smartphones.

The El Dorado County Fair, themed “Bales, Boots & BBQ,” features livestock exhibits, live music, carnival rides, and local food vendors. Last year’s fair drew more than 40,000 visitors, with traffic backups stretching down Placerville Drive. Officials hope the expanded shuttle service will help mitigate similar gridlock.

Funding for the free service was provided by the El Dorado County Transportation Commission and a state air quality improvement grant, both part of a broader push to make local events more accessible and sustainable.

Shuttle stop maps and schedules are posted at www.eldoradotransit.com and at key downtown locations. ADA-accessible vehicles are included in the fleet.
