SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – February 5, 2024 — Camp Richardson Resort, nestled on the shores of Lake Tahoe, is set to embark on a transformative journey with the appointment of Robert Henderson as the new General Manager. Henderson, renowned for his success at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park’s Volcano House, brings a wealth of experience to oversee the resort’s phased $12 million revitalization.

Effective January 6, 2024, ExplorUS assumed operations at Camp Richardson Resort. As a hospitality management company specializing in iconic national park destinations, ExplorUS manages over 60 locations, including the historic Volcano House. Camp Richardson Hospitality, LLC, a subsidiary of ExplorUS, is now overseeing the resort’s diverse offerings, from cabins and campgrounds to restaurants and the beachside inn.

New Leadership Team: Robert Henderson and Travis Lauinger

Accompanying Henderson in this exciting endeavor is Travis Lauinger, a seasoned Camp Richardson veteran, appointed as the resort’s Assistant General Manager. Henderson, originally from Las Vegas, started his career in the food and beverage industry, rising through the ranks with leadership roles in renowned establishments such as Las Vegas’s Downtown Project and Four Seasons Resort Hualalai.

Vision for Camp Richardson’s Future

Henderson envisions retaining the cherished Camp Richardson experience while introducing enhancements to set a new standard in hospitality. Immediate plans include updating historic hotel furnishings and remodeling the general store for the upcoming summer season. Cabin upgrades are on the horizon, with a complete renovation planned for the restaurant building in the coming years.

Return of Oktoberfest and Community Engagement

Excitement is building as Henderson plans to revive the resort’s popular Oktoberfest in 2024, marking its return after a five-year hiatus. Scheduled for October 5-6, the event promises to bring back the festive atmosphere that has been a beloved tradition at Camp Richardson.
