South Lake Tahoe, Ken Skibum Curtzwiler (1-9-24, 1:04 pm) –

This morning I presented an alternative to the various taxation schemes the city has going right now. The ball is in their court now. Anybody that feels that Heavenly Mountain aka Heavenly Vailly. Should pay their fair share of taxes to help the community that they have changed forever. Now would be a good time for City Residents to speak up. I live in The County so The Council does not see me as a voter that can help them get elected. I am willing to stand on a corner and collect signatures to get something on the ballot. The City can just put it on as a question to pursue if they so desire.

DEFINITION OF A LIFT TICKET

LIFT TICKETS ARE A QUINTESSNTIAL ELEMENT OF ANY SKI TRIP. IT GIVES YOU ACCESS TO CHAIRLIFTS WHICH TAKE YOU UP THE MOUNTAIN SO YOU CAN SKI DOWN.

ITEM 10.10 SAYS “LIFT TICKET 6 TIMES

YOU CANNOT ACCESS ANY OF THE LIFTS AT HEAVENLY WITHOUT HAVING SKIS ON

ALL TICKET SALES FOR SIGHTSEEING, WITHOUT ACCESSING A LIFT TO SKI, SHOULD BE TAXED

TAXES

MY COMPANY PAID OVER $185,000 IN WAGES LAST YEAR

MY COMPANY PAID OVER $8,000 IN SALES TAX WITHIN THE CITY OF SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ON LOCALLY PURCHASED ITEMS [over $35,000 in State & Fed taxes]

EVERY ONE OF MY EMPLOYEES LIVE HERE AND SPEND THEIR MONEY HERE

BALLOT MEASURE

INSTEAD OF SPENDING MONEY ON A CONSULTANT TO DETERMINE IF A TAX HIKE ON RESIDENTS, VISITORS AND SECOND HOMEOWNERS. WHICH WE ALL KNOW WILL FAIL.

WHY NOT SPEND THE MONEY ON THE FEASABILITY OF PUTTING A USER TAX ON NON-LIFT ACCESS GONDOLA TICKET SALES.

BRECKENRIDGE

THE TOWN OF BRECKENRIDGE APPROVED AN ORDANANCE APPROVING THE COLLECTION OF A LIFT TICKET TAX VOTED THROUGH A BALLOT MEASURE.

THE TAX WOULD BE LEVIED FROM DAILY OR MULTI-DAY BRECKENRIDGE LIFT TICKETS AND BE USED TO FUND TRANSPORTATION EFFORT THROUGHOUT THE TOWN.

THE TAX WOULD NOT AFFECT SEASON PASSES OR MULTI RESORT PASSES.
