EL DORADO COUNTY, CA – February 7 2024 — The democratic process is in full swing as El Dorado County voters eagerly await the March 5, 2024 Presidential Primary. With ballots already en route to registered voters, the County Registrar of Voters, Bill O’Neill, shares essential details to ensure a seamless and informed voting experience.
Mail-In Ballots and Information Guides Dispatched
El Dorado County residents have received their ballots by mail, accompanied by a County voter information guide. A separate mailing, starting February 2nd, will deliver a State guide containing information about statewide candidates and measures.
Early Voting Commences: February 5 at the Election Office
Early birds eager to cast their votes can do so at the Election Office located at 3883 Ponderosa Rd. in Shingle Springs. The early voting period, from February 5, runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Note that the Election Office will be closed on February 19 in observance of Presidents Day.
Mail-In Ballot Tracking: “Where’s my Ballot?”
For those utilizing the Postal Service to return their ballots, a convenient tracking system called “Where’s my Ballot?” has been introduced. By signing up at California BallotTrax, voters can monitor the status of their ballot as it makes its way to the Election Department.
Multiple Return Options: Drop Boxes and Vote Centers
County Registrar Bill O’Neill emphasizes the flexibility for voters, stating, “You can vote from home and return your ballot through the mail – no postage needed – or drop it off at any official ballot drop box or vote center in El Dorado County.” To locate the nearest drop box or vote center, residents can visit the El Dorado County elections website.
In-Person Voting Starting February 24
For those who prefer the traditional in-person voting experience, vote centers open their doors on February 24. Operating daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and extended hours on Election Day (7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.), these centers offer a convenient option for those who enjoy the hands-on approach.
Crucial Reminder: Sign and Date Your Return Ballot Envelope
A vital reminder from Registrar O’Neill: Ensure your ballot is counted by signing and dating the return envelope. A valid signature on the return envelope is imperative for the ballot’s inclusion in the final count.
