GEORGETOWN, Calif. — June 21, 2025 — A 19-year-old Placerville man was killed in a solo motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon on a remote stretch of road in El Dorado County, authorities confirmed.
The fatal accident occurred around 2 p.m. near the intersection of Wentworth Springs Road and Balderston Road, just outside the rural town of Georgetown, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Placerville office.
Responding officers found the rider’s motorcycle had veered off the south shoulder of Wentworth Springs Road and collided with a metal signpost. CHP officials said the cause of the crash remains under investigation, but speed may have been a factor. No other vehicles were involved.
Emergency responders rendered aid and began transporting the victim to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead during transport.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Coroner Division is working to notify the family before releasing the man’s identity.
“This is a tragic reminder of how unforgiving our mountain roads can be, especially for young riders,” said CHP Officer J. Simmons in a statement. “We urge all motorcyclists to ride with extreme caution, particularly on rural and winding roads.”
The crash site lies in a scenic but hazardous section of El Dorado County popular with off-roaders, campers, and motorcyclists. CHP reminded residents and visitors to use proper protective gear, obey speed limits, and ride responsibly.
Anyone with additional information about the incident is urged to contact the CHP Placerville Area Office at (530) 748-2450.
