El Dorado County (Aug 18, 2024, 2024) – The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) has authorized the issuance of four new on-sale general liquor licenses for bona fide public eating establishments in El Dorado County. Joseph McCullough, Director of ABC, made the announcement under the authority of § 23826.16 of the Business & Professions Code (BPC). These new licenses come with strict limitations: they cannot be sold or transferred for more than the original fee, nor can they be moved to another county or premises that do not qualify under the code.
From September 9 through September 20, 2024, the ABC’s Sacramento District Office at 2400 Del Paso Road, Suite 155, Sacramento, CA 95834, along with other ABC offices statewide, will accept applications for these licenses. Applicants must pay an $18,635 fee when filing their priority application, and only one application per person will be accepted.
In the event that the number of applications exceeds the number of available licenses, a virtual drawing will be held. To qualify for the drawing, applicants must have been California residents for at least 90 days prior. Those selected in the drawing will have 90 days to complete a formal application for their intended premises. Unsuccessful applicants will receive a refund of their application fee, minus a $100 service charge, within 90-120 days, and they will retain their priority ranking for the following year.
Applicants are advised to submit their applications early in the filing period to avoid delays. Further information and instructions will be posted on the ABC website in the coming weeks.
