Placerville, CA (Feb 1, 2025) – Jason Robinette, 48, of Placerville, has been convicted on two felony arson charges for igniting the Crozier Fire in El Dorado County. The sentencing is scheduled for March 14 in El Dorado County Superior Court’s Department 1.

The Crozier Fire erupted in the early hours of August 6, 2024, consuming 1,960 acres northwest of Slate Mountain. Although the blaze occurred in a remote area, it prompted evacuation orders and led to the temporary closure of the Placerville Airport.

Following an investigation by CAL FIRE Law Enforcement, in collaboration with the El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Forest Service’s Law Enforcement and Investigations Office, Robinette was arrested on September 16, 2024. He was subsequently booked into the El Dorado County Jail on arson charges.
