“We are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this discovery,”

said Sgt. Lisa Martinez of the Placerville Police Department.

“At this time, we are treating the area as a potential crime scene and are working diligently to determine the cause of death.”

Discovery Plaza, located at 2855-2869 Ray Lawyer Dr., is a commercial retail property housing several businesses, including Riebes/NAPA Auto Parts, Danette’s Brick Oven Pub, and a Verizon Wireless store. The area is typically busy during daytime hours, making the discovery particularly concerning for local residents and business owners.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office has taken custody of the body and will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. The Placerville Police Department is urging anyone with information related to this incident to come forward.

“Community assistance is vital in cases like this,”

Sgt. Martinez added.

“If anyone saw or heard anything unusual in the area over the past few days, we encourage them to contact our department.”

Residents can reach the Placerville Police Department at (530) 642-5280 or via email at placervillepd@gmail.com. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the department’s online reporting system.

As the investigation continues, authorities are asking the public to avoid the area around Discovery Plaza to allow for a thorough examination of the scene.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
