Placerville (Oct 18, 2024) – Placerville is preparing to welcome a new addition to its vibrant Main Street as Burning Barrel Brewing and Spirits gets ready to open its doors at 640 Main St. The venture, spearheaded by the Alexander family, who also own Burning Barrel Brewing Co. in Rancho Cordova, marks the family’s expansion into distilling, with plans to offer both craft beer and spirits under one roof.

The new location is taking over the former Outbreak Brewing Co. space, which the Alexanders acquired in 2022. Since then, they’ve worked to transform the building into a hybrid taproom and distillery. Duncan Alexander, director of operations, shared that while the brewery has been their mainstay, a distillery has long been part of their vision. However, the lengthy maturation process of whiskey required careful planning. “Whiskey takes years to produce, and we didn’t want to just open with vodka and gin,” Alexander explained. The family first built their brand in Sacramento with their brewery and now feels poised to branch into spirits.

Burning Barrel Brewing and Spirits will feature 24 taps of craft beer, mostly from its Rancho Cordova location, and will offer 13 different cocktails using spirits they’ve developed, such as their Ghost Pine Gin and Western Slope Vodka. The long-awaited debut of their whiskey line is expected by early 2025.

The Placerville location has undergone significant renovations, including the addition of a patio with roll-up doors and a storage container kitchen that will serve a variety of simple yet flavorful dishes like wings and paninis. Duncan Alexander emphasized the importance of the location, stating, “I was born and raised in El Dorado County, so it’s special to bring something back to my hometown.”

Set to open in early November, Burning Barrel Brewing and Spirits will offer a fresh experience for Placerville residents, combining craft beer, handcrafted spirits, and a welcoming atmosphere.
