The El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE) has been instrumental in supporting local districts through initiatives that focus on implementing technology best practices, staff development, and curriculum collaboration.

“Our mission is to support El Dorado County school districts in delivering quality instruction to students,”

said David Seabury, Director of Information Technology at EDCOE.

“Part of this support involves developing and implementing technology best practices and partnering for staff development to support site technology plans.”

In the El Dorado Union High School District, schools like Oak Ridge High School offer courses such as Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles, which encourages students to apply creative processes in developing computational artifacts and to think creatively while using simulations to explore questions that interest them.

Pacific Crest Academy, another institution within the district, employs a blended learning model that combines traditional classroom instruction with advanced technology, allowing for greater personalization and one-on-one instruction.

The Rescue Union School District has also articulated a clear vision for technology integration, emphasizing the use of technology as a vehicle for integrating standards-based curriculum, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration.

Charter schools in the county are adopting flexible approaches to technology in education. The Cottonwood School provides each student with an instructional budget, enabling families and teachers to select educational products, including technology items, that align with the student’s course of study.

Visions In Education, a charter school serving Northern California, has expanded its services to over 7,500 students, emphasizing individualized learning and the integration of technology to support diverse student needs.

These concerted efforts across various educational institutions in El Dorado County reflect a broader commitment to leveraging technology to enhance educational outcomes and prepare students for future challenges.
