South Lake Tahoe, CA (Jan 14, 2025)—On Sunday, January 12, 2025, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (SAR) team based in South Lake Tahoe responded to a vehicle stranded in deep snow on Wrights Lake Road. Utilizing their Utility Task Vehicle (UTV), SAR volunteers located the immobilized vehicle and safely escorted its occupants to a secure location, where they arranged for vehicle recovery.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that many high-country roads lack maintenance, snow removal, and closure gates during winter months. Travelers are advised to exercise caution and avoid proceeding when snow begins to cover the roadway. Not all vehicles are equipped to handle adverse conditions, and stopping when snow is present can prevent hazardous situations.
El Dorado County Search and Rescue is an all-volunteer professional rescue team operating under the authority of the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office. Their services are provided free of charge, supported by donations that directly assist their volunteer rescuers.
Community members are encouraged to support the SAR team through donations or by volunteering. For more information, visit their official website at www.edsar.org.
