Folsom, Calif. — Authorities have identified the man killed in a solo vehicle collision in Folsom last week as Cory Glenn Hakala, 42, of El Dorado Hills.
The crash occurred just before 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, at the intersection of Folsom Boulevard and Iron Point Road, according to a statement from the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. Folsom Police said Hakala was the sole occupant of the vehicle when it left the roadway and struck a tree.
Officers arriving at the scene found Hakala unconscious and not breathing. Despite emergency life-saving efforts by Folsom police and fire personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The circumstances leading to the crash remain under investigation. Police have not released information about possible contributing factors, such as speed, impairment, or mechanical failure.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Hakala,”
said Folsom Police spokesperson Krista Bernard in a written statement.
“Our traffic investigators are continuing to examine all aspects of the incident.”
Hakala’s death is the latest in a series of single-vehicle fatalities in the region, prompting renewed calls for driver safety on local roadways. According to California Highway Patrol crash data, solo-vehicle collisions account for a significant portion of roadway fatalities across Sacramento and El Dorado counties.
