SHINGLE SPRINGS, Calif. (March 2, 2025) — A Fire Captain and a firefighter from the El Dorado County Fire Protection District sustained injuries Thursday night while combating a residential blaze on Lonesome Dove Court.

The Fire Captain suffered serious burn injuries and was transported to UC Davis Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition. The firefighter incurred a minor leg injury, received treatment at Mercy Hospital of Folsom, and was released the same evening.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The El Dorado County Fire Protection District, along with affiliated organizations, is providing support to the injured personnel and their families.
“We kindly ask that you keep the Fire Captain in your thoughts as he undergoes treatment,” the district stated in a press release.
