Drawing from nearly four decades of experience with wolves and wolf-dogs, Starr provides readers with practical advice and insights into the deep-rooted connections between domestic dogs and their wild ancestors. He emphasizes that understanding this relationship can enhance dog training and strengthen the human-canine bond.

“Dogs and wolves share a deep and ancient connection, and understanding this relationship can significantly enhance how we raise and train our dogs,” said Starr. “My goal with this book is to bridge the gap between science and practical, everyday advice for dog lovers everywhere.”

Key highlights of the book include:

  • Expert training techniques rooted in the natural behaviors of wolves and dogs.
  • Insights into the cognitive and emotional lives of dogs.
  • Practical advice for building a strong, respectful, and loving relationship with your dog.
  • Heartwarming stories and real-life examples from Starr’s extensive experience.

Starr’s dedication to wildlife conservation is evident through his leadership at the Tahoe Wolf Center, a 501(c)(3) organization committed to wolf conservation and education. In addition to his conservation efforts, Starr and his wife own the award-winning Thai restaurant, Thai On Ski Run, in South Lake Tahoe.

The Wolf Lover’s Guide to Raising Dogs is currently available on Amazon. A special, large-format limited edition featuring over 95 full-color photos will be available directly from the author in the coming weeks.
