At around 7:50 a.m. on June 7, Giada Lancellotti was crossing Lake Tahoe Boulevard with her e‑bike when an Acura MDX struck her. She was ejected into a snow marker, revived at the scene, and taken to the hospital, but tragically succumbed to her injuries the next day. The community is deeply saddened, with school counseling made available and a spot designated for tributes. CHP is investigating and is seeking witnesses.

  • Intersection: Lake Tahoe Boulevard and Sawmill Road, South Lake Tahoe, CA

Victim Details

  • A 13-year-old girl, identified as Giada Lancellotti, a student at South Tahoe Middle School

Accident Description

  • Giada was riding her e‑bike in the crosswalk across Lake Tahoe Blvd when a 56-year-old local woman driving an Acura MDX, heading eastbound, struck her

  • The impact launched Giada into the air, causing her to hit a snow paddle marker before falling

Emergency Response & Outcome

  • Firefighters revived Giada at the scene, then she was rushed to Barton Memorial Hospital with severe, life-threatening injuries

  • Sadly, despite efforts, she passed away at the hospital the following day .

Aftermath & Community Impact

  • The Lake Tahoe Unified School District publicly mourned her passing; Superintendent Todd Cutler offered condolences, calling it a “profound loss” to the community.

  • Counseling services were made available June 8 at South Tahoe Middle School and South Tahoe High School.

  • Giada’s family requested that flowers or cards be placed at the Tahoe Paradise Park bridge in her memory

Investigation

  • The California Highway Patrol is conducting an ongoing investigation.

  • No charges have been announced; the driver was not injured

  • CHP Officer M. Renk has requested that anyone with additional information contact his office at 530‑539‑9500
