MEYERS, Calif. — The Tesla Supercharger station located in the parking lot of Tube Tahoe in Meyers, near South Lake Tahoe, has been vandalized for the second time in as many weeks, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office (EDSO).
On Wednesday, March 12, deputies responded to reports that all eight charging units had been disabled after someone applied epoxy to them, rendering them inoperable. Due to the significant damage and associated repair costs, authorities are treating the incident as felony vandalism.
This act follows a previous incident on March 5, when the same charging stations were defaced with swastikas and the name of Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
The California Highway Patrol’s South Lake Tahoe division confirmed the damage, stating that the chargers are currently non-functional. They are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Local residents have expressed frustration over the repeated vandalism. One community member commented on social media, “First it was Republicans vandalizing the charging stations and Teslas, now it’s Democrats. Getting tired of political extremists.”
Authorities are actively investigating both incidents and are seeking assistance from the public. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office at 530-621-6600.
