Gregory Dean Marquardt, beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, and mentor, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2024, at the age of 61. Born in Lodi, California on September 7, 1962, Greg lived a life defined by action, humor, and a genuine love for people.

Greg grew up attending St. Peter’s Lutheran School and graduated from Lodi High School. He began his professional career close to home, quickly becoming a beloved fixture in the community as the Divide Manager of Mar-Val Grocery. Known for his sharp wit, warm presence, and ability to make anyone feel welcome, Greg built lasting friendships with coworkers and customers alike.

Later in life, Greg helped launch Red Hawk Casino as part of its Opening Team. He rose through the ranks to become a respected Pit Boss, earning admiration from coworkers and subordinates for his professionalism, sense of fairness, and infectious laugh. He was known across departments as someone who could lift spirits in tough times and bring people together through humor and heart.

To know Greg was to witness a man who lived fully. He didn’t wait for the “right time”—he believed in seizing the moment. A man of spontaneous adventures and deep, meaningful connections, Greg was a role model of how to live a courageous, joyful life. He leaves behind countless friends, many of whom will remember his signature smile, his love of good company, and the life lessons he embodied.

Greg is survived by his brother Brian Marquardt, his nephew Mitchell Marquardt, and a wide circle of extended family, friends, and colleagues whose lives he touched in Lodi, Garden Valley, Georgetown, and beyond.

A celebration of Greg’s life was held on October 5, 2024, at BarmHaus Brewing Co., where those who loved him came together to raise a glass, share stories, and carry forward his legacy of laughter, generosity, and fearless living.

Greg, you showed us how to live with heart. Thank you for the example. May you rest in peace, and may we all live a little bolder in your honor.
