PLACERVILLE, Calif. — The Newtown Road Bridge Replacement Project is set to commence on April 15, 2024, necessitating a full closure of Newtown Road between Paso Way and the South Fork of Weber Creek through June 14, 2025.
The project entails replacing the existing bridge, enhancing approach roadways, installing safety railings, constructing retaining walls, improving storm drainage, conducting earthwork, and paving the roadway. These improvements aim to modernize infrastructure and bolster safety for motorists.
To facilitate construction, traffic will be detoured to Fort Jim Road. Detour signage and changeable message boards will be installed on Newtown Road and Fort Jim Road by April 8, 2025, to inform motorists of the upcoming closure and provide updates as necessary.
Residents and commuters are encouraged to plan alternative routes during the closure period to minimize travel disruptions. The County acknowledges the inconvenience and appreciates the public’s cooperation and patience. For further information or inquiries, individuals can contact the County at (530) 621-5998.
