UPDATE –
FAIR PLAY, Calif. — Firefighters responded Saturday to the Boondock Fire in the 8500 block of Boondock Trail near Fair Play, according to emergency dispatch information.
The vegetation fire was reported on June 13 in the rural Fair Play area of southeastern El Dorado County. Fire resources were dispatched to the scene to assess the fire’s size, rate of spread and any threats to nearby homes or infrastructure.
As of Saturday afternoon, officials had not released detailed information regarding acreage, containment, cause or whether any structures were threatened.
The response comes as fire agencies across California warn of increasing wildfire danger due to drying vegetation and warming temperatures. CAL FIRE’s seasonal outlook notes that cured grasses and other fine fuels are contributing to heightened fire potential throughout much of Northern California.
“Significant fire potential is expected to increase through early summer as fuels continue to dry,” CAL FIRE stated in its latest statewide outlook.
Residents in the Fair Play and Somerset areas are encouraged to remain alert for updates from fire officials and to ensure evacuation plans are current should conditions change.
Additional information, including acreage, containment and possible evacuation notices, is expected as firefighters complete their assessment of the incident.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
