El Dorado County Historical Museum Remains Closed Amid Staffing Issues

Placerville, Calif. — The El Dorado County Historical Museum has remained closed since December 26, 2024, due to ongoing staffing shortages, with no confirmed date for reopening.

The museum’s closure has raised concerns among local historians and residents. Carla Hass, the county’s public information officer, stated that the closure is due to staffing issues, and no reopening date has been set.

Despite the museum’s closure, the El Dorado County Historical Museum Commission continues its efforts to maintain the institution’s vision and goals. The commission holds regular meetings every two months, typically on the first Friday of January, March, May, July, September, and November.

The next meeting is scheduled for March 7, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at 330 Fair Lane, Building A, Conference Room D, Placerville, CA 95667, and will also be accessible via Zoom.

Members of the public are invited to attend the meeting either in person or via Zoom. To join the live stream, visit https://edcgov-us.zoom.us/j/85812847558. For those joining by phone, dial 530-621-7603 or 530-621-7610 and enter Meeting ID 858 1284 7558.
