The fire was first reported at 4:08 p.m. on May 19, 2025, burning on private land above the Blackstone neighborhood. Firefighters from the El Dorado Hills Fire Department (EDH Fire), CAL FIRE, and the El Dorado County Fire Protection District were dispatched to the scene. By 5:10 p.m., crews had fully contained the blaze, preventing it from threatening nearby homes or prompting evacuations.

“Thanks to the coordinated efforts of our firefighting teams, we were able to quickly control the fire and protect the community,”

said Tanya Harlow, El Dorado County Fire Safe Coordinator.

The cause of the Black Fire is currently under investigation. No injuries or structural damages have been reported.

This incident underscores the importance of wildfire preparedness in El Dorado County. The county recently released the Draft 2025 Western El Dorado County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP), aiming to identify wildfire risks and outline actions to improve resilience. Public comments on the draft CWPP are being accepted through June 9, 2025.

For more information on wildfire preparedness and to participate in the public comment process, residents can visit the El Dorado County Office of Wildfire Preparedness and Resilience website. El Dorado County
