Kings Meats Plans Second Location in El Dorado Hills Town Center

A well-known butcher shop rooted in Diamond Springs is preparing to expand its footprint into El Dorado Hills, marking a significant move for one of the region’s fastest-growing specialty food retailers.

Kings Meats, a family-run business led by owner and butcher Casey King, has confirmed plans to open a second location at the El Dorado Hills Town Center. The new store will occupy a space exceeding 4,000 square feet at 4370 Town Center Blvd., Suite 110, situated just behind the restaurant OBO’ Italian Table & Bar.

“This is a location we have been wanting to expand into for at least three years now,”

King said in a statement.

“I am happy to say that things are finally moving in that direction.”

From Pandemic Launch to Regional Expansion

King, who has worked in the butcher trade since 1993, launched the original Kings Meats shop on Feb. 12, 2020—weeks before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the uncertainty of that period, the business remained operational as an essential service and quickly established itself as a reliable local resource.

“This was a terrible time for everyone, but an essential business like a retail butcher shop, we were allowed to be open,”

King said.

“It gave people an opportunity to get to know us and what we stand for.”

Those early interactions helped shape the shop’s identity, built on quality sourcing, customer service, and transparency in food preparation.

Premium Offerings and Expanded Vision

Kings Meats has since evolved beyond a traditional butcher counter. Its current offerings include premium Wagyu beef, dry-aged cuts, and upper-tier Choice beef sourced from Washington and Idaho suppliers. The shop also carries Beeler’s Pure Pork, Smart Chicken, house-made sausages, marinated tri-tip, and a variety of deli meats.

In addition to proteins, the business has cultivated a market-style retail experience featuring specialty cheeses, fresh produce, baked goods, locally sourced items, and pantry staples such as sauces, rubs, and oils.

The upcoming El Dorado Hills location is expected to build on that model. King said plans include an expanded specialty cheese program and the addition of to-go beer and wine, aimed at creating what he described as a “steakhouse-quality” retail experience.

“We are over the top excited to be part of Town Center and all of the amazing businesses there,” King said.

Timeline and Community Impact

If construction and permitting proceed as anticipated, the new Kings Meats location is projected to open in September 2026. The expansion positions the business to serve a broader customer base in one of El Dorado County’s busiest commercial corridors.

Local economic observers note that the addition of a specialty butcher and gourmet market aligns with ongoing growth in the Town Center area, which continues to attract food-focused and boutique retailers.
